Love 'em or Hate 'em?

craft shows that is! I love the anticipation and setting up and the wonderfully happy feelings that I have knowing that people will purchase something that I made with my own two hands. Then, nobody buys anything and I'm completely pissed off and I have to pack all this crap up and I'm swearing left and right.

Now, thankfully, I have never done a show where I didn't sell anything...until last weekend. And, let me tell you, it really is depressing....at least for the first night. By the next day I was in a much better mood and was not going to kill anybody for looking at me the wrong way!

To boot, my booth was looking good too!! So many compliments, "your photography is beautiful" "what beautiful cards" "you made this glass? it's beautiful"...yada yada yada and blah blah blah! (but, really, I'm not bitter anymore) HA!

Here are some pics of my booth on that most depressing day.... :)

So, there you have it. Has anybody else done a show and not sold anything...I mean not even a flippin little something? Please tell me that I am not the only one.

Your booth was beautiful with lovely products! Maybe just a slow day which can happen to the best. :)

Your booth was gorgeous...I just don't think this is a good year for sales...at least is what I'm telling myself! I had a show a couple of weeks ago (see pics at my blog) and only made my table fee...good thing I was splitting the table ;-)

Been there once too. It was in a very small Utah town (Eagle Mountain) and all the stroller pushing mothers thought the stuff was great but "the purse was in the car". To top it off as part of the town celebration the sheriff's helicopter was flown in and landed on the baseball field next to the craft area. I was cleaning dust out of my stuff for a week!

Love the booth. I did a show this summer & didn't sell a thing. The people who put it together didn't promote it all-I thought there was going to be a mob of vendors all over them! I think maybe 15 people came to the show in three hours! Learning experiences, right? I have a show this weekend, keep your fingers crossed for me.

I did a show last weekend that was a bust. I only made my half of the booth fee plus about $3. My sister didn't even make her half back. It was definitely very frustrating and discouraging.

What a fantastic display! And you certainly aren't alone in the experience you had. I didn't sell much at one about 4 years ago. I couldn't even pay for my table rental, which was only $10.

Yep.I've done shows where I didn't sell a thing. Unfortunately, they will happen now and again. Just keep pressing on. A fellow artist here in town spent $3,000 on a booth for the famous Balloon Fiesta (over a million visitors) and he didn't sell a thing. He still does shows and keeps plugging away. :-)

YUP! Been there done that. Looks like you did everything right. Some shows just aren't worth it, but of course you never know that until AFTER the show.
I usually try to talk to people that have been to a particular show before I try to get in. Unfortunately you can't always find someone to ask and of course if its the first time for a show, you just have to take a chance. Good luck!

This was too funny! I have felt that way so many times. It was as if I were reading my own story. The good side of it is we enjoy what we are doing. Keep positive and try different events. Be careful because a lot of the event coordinators will let anyone and anything in.

Your booth was really nice and you will do better the next time.
